How to measure bra size Cup size chart

Bra sizing combines two independent measurements into one label, which is why it feels so complicated. The band number comes from the measurement around your ribcage just under the bust, and the cup letter comes from the difference between that measurement and the fullest part of the bust. Change either measurement and the whole size changes.

On top of that, countries label the same physical bra differently. The US and UK use inch based band numbers, while much of Europe, France and Italy use their own centimetre based numbering, and cup letters diverge above a D cup. The charts and calculator here translate a US size into every major system so a bra that fits at home fits abroad.

Bra size questions

How do I measure my bra size?

Measure snugly around your ribcage under the bust for the band, then loosely around the fullest part of the bust. The band comes from the first number and the cup comes from the difference between the two. The calculator does the maths for you.

What is the difference between US and UK bra sizes?

The band numbers are the same, but cup letters differ above a D. A US DDD is a UK E, and the gap grows for larger cups, so always convert rather than assume the letter is identical.

How does EU bra sizing work?

European band sizes are the underbust measurement in centimetres, so a US 34 band is an EU 75. Cup letters run A, B, C, D, E rather than doubling up letters like DD.

Why does my bra size change between brands?

Cut, fabric stretch and style all affect fit, so the same labelled size can fit differently. Use your measured size as a starting point and try the band one size up or down if needed.
